🇦🇪 Applying from the UAE

You'll keep working remotely for employers or clients outside Spain. UAE applicants usually evidence income with employment contracts or free-zone licences, salary certificates and bank statements.

Is this your route?

  • You're employed by a company outside Spain that lets you work remotely
  • You freelance or run an online business with clients mostly outside Spain
  • You've been with that employer or those clients for at least three months
  • You can document the income — contracts, invoices, payslips, tax records — not just show a bank balance

What goes in the file

  • Contracts and proof of three months' working history with your employer or clients
  • Income evidence that clears the threshold, with the currency story documented
  • A criminal record certificate — the country-specific part below
  • Social security coverage — a certificate of coverage or Spanish registration, depending on your setup
  • Degree or three years' professional experience in your field

The United Arab Emirates Part of the File

Whichever visa you pick, these are the documents and rules that are specific to applying from the UAE — and where files usually go wrong.

  • You apply from where you legally reside

UAE residents file in the UAE, not in their passport country. That is usually good news — but it means the file is built to the Spanish missions here, with UAE-issued evidence.

  • Spain wants criminal records from more than one country

The UAE good conduct certificate (Dubai Police or the Ministry of Interior) — and, for most applicants, a police certificate from your home country too, since Spain asks about everywhere you've lived in recent years. Two clocks running at once is the part that needs sequencing.

  • No apostilles for UAE documents — attestation instead

The UAE is not in the Apostille Convention, so UAE documents are attested by MOFAIC and then legalised by the Spanish mission. Your home-country documents follow their own country's apostille route — two different chains in one file.

  • The sworn translation must include every stamp

Every word of the document, the attestation and the legalisation. English or Arabic originals both need sworn Spanish translations, and they are included in our service fee.

  • Your mission is decided by your emirate

The Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai split the Emirates between them. The table below shows the map.

Missions change their requirements without notice. Treat this as orientation, not a checklist: the checklist your case manager builds is for your mission, your visa and your household.
