Moving from India

Moving to Spain, from India

A PCC from Passport Seva, MEA apostilles, and BLS centres across the country feeding two Spanish missions — the Indian file is process-heavy but predictable when you know the order. We know it, and we prepare the file so it isn't sent back.

Non-Lucrative Visa

Live in Spain on savings or passive income

The Numbers, In Rupees

The thresholds are set in euros, but the file is built from Indian paperwork. Here is the shape of it.

€2,400a month for the NLV — roughly ₹2.2 lakh, depending on the rate

The Non-Lucrative Visa asks for around €2,400 a month in passive income or €28,800 in savings (about ₹26 lakh), plus €600 a month per family member. The Digital Nomad Visa has its own income bar, met with contracts, invoices, bank statements and ITRs — presented so a consular officer sees at a glance that the threshold is met, with the rupee-to-euro story documented rather than assumed.

  • Pick your route

Student, DNV, HSW or NLV — the two-minute eligibility check tells you which fits, and what it will ask of you.

  • Build the file

PCC through Passport Seva, state attestation where needed, MEA apostilles, sworn translations — sequenced so nothing expires waiting on something else.

  • Your BLS appointment

Filed through the BLS centre for your state, under Delhi's or Mumbai's jurisdiction — booked and prepared to that mission's habits.

  • Decision & move

Visa in your passport, and the after-landing part — TIE, town hall, bank — already mapped.

Financial thresholds are set by the Spanish government and updated yearly — your case manager confirms the current figures before anything is filed.

What's Different Applying From India

  • Your criminal record is the PCC from Passport Seva

Spain wants the Police Clearance Certificate issued through Passport Seva by your Regional Passport Office — not a letter from the local police station — apostilled by the MEA, with the apostille on the certificate itself.

  • Apostilles come from the MEA, and some documents need a step first

India has been in the Apostille Convention since 2005. Personal documents are apostilled by the MEA; educational documents usually need state-level attestation before the MEA will apostille them, which is where most timelines slip.

  • The sworn translation must include the apostille

Every word of the document and of the apostille. English originals still need sworn Spanish translations, and they are included in our service fee.

  • Certificates are ordered fresh

Birth and marriage certificates from the municipal authority, recently issued. If a birth was never registered, the non-availability certificate and affidavit route works — but it takes time, so it goes first.

  • Your mission is decided by where you live

The Embassy in New Delhi and the Consulate General in Mumbai split India between them, with BLS centres in the major cities handling intake. The table below shows the map.

By Consulate

The two Spanish missions in India and who files where — intake runs through BLS centres in the major cities. Your case manager confirms the current requirements for yours before anything is filed.

Missions change their requirements without notice. Treat this as orientation, not a checklist: the checklist your case manager builds is for your mission, your visa and your household.

Spain Will Feel Workable

A growing Indian community

Barcelona and Madrid have long-established Indian communities — groceries, restaurants, temples and gurdwaras included — and the student and tech crowds are growing them fast. You won't be starting from zero.

Why Spain →

A degree that travels

Spanish master's programmes are a fraction of UK or US fees, taught in English, and come with a post-study pathway — which is why the student route from India keeps growing.
